Transformations That Speak for Themselves

Every project tells a story—of vision, renewal, and intention. Here, you'll find a collection of before-and-after landscapes that reveal what’s possible when design meets purpose. From tired yards to timeless sanctuaries, each transformation reflects our commitment to beauty, function, and lasting value.

Los Angeles Backyard 3 Tiered Hillside Rejuvenation

Layered Living in Elevated Elegance

This Los Angeles backyard posed a bold design challenge—three disconnected tiers, crumbling walls, and wild overgrowth made the space feel fragmented and forgotten. Working alongside the Property Brothers (Season 8, Episode 6 of Brother vs Brother), we reimagined the hillside into a unified, multi-functional retreat for relaxing, entertaining, and home gardening.

A back door leading to the former garage, now an ADU, was reborn as an elevated deck that anchors the layout and connects the main home to the guest unit. From this lounge-worthy hub, clean sight-lines now stretch upward to all three tiers.

The second level features a built-in BBQ, dining area, and opposite sits a custom fire pit. A retaining wall/planter bed doubles as a customized bench for more seating around the fire pit, and is planted with rosemary, lavender, and citronella for ambiance and natural pest control.

A calming water feature draws the eye upward toward the third tier and consists of multiple custom built raised garden beds filled with vegetables, fully automated irrigation, a decomposed granite path and pavers, and a shed that comfortably seats four and has space for storing gardening tools.

The result? A once-forgotten hillside transformed into a serene, layered oasis.

Manhattan Beach Unique Home = Manhattan Beach Unique Garden

Elemental Flow

Perched on the California coast, this striking three-story beachfront residence reflects bold international taste with its charred black wood siding, purposefully rusted metal accents, and a dramatic slate-gray entry of stone stairs and driveway. Designed with global materials and a distinct aesthetic, the homeowner envisioned a landscape as unique and artful as the home itself—one that embraced the coastal climate while breaking free from the typical drabness of native chaparral.

Coastal planting presents unique challenges: high salinity, cooler temperatures, and a shallow water table often limit color and variety. To defy these constraints, we designed a visually symbolic and climate-appropriate landscape. Raised gray slate planters were filled with two contrasting rock types—burnt orange stones that echoed the rusted metal and symbolized earth and warmth, and smooth gray river rock that mirrored the home’s exterior tones and represented movement and water. Though placed in distinct zones, these two rock types converge at key points throughout the beds, simulating the natural meeting of land and sea.

Coastal-hardy plants were carefully selected to thrive in this environment while bringing life and vibrant color: lavender, rosemary, blue-silver agaves, and sculptural firestick euphorbia added height and contrast; a fruitless olive tree introduced timeless Mediterranean elegance; while pops of CA poppy, ice plant with electric fuchsia blooms (Delosperma 'John Proffitt'), and various other trailing groundcovers filled gaps with seasonal vibrance. The result is a landscape that feels modern yet organic, structured yet flowing—perfectly complementing the home’s architectural spirit and beachfront surroundings.

Loma Linda Front and Backyard transformation

A Zen reawakening in Loma Linda

This full-property transformation in Loma Linda set out to achieve a minimalist, low-maintenance landscape with a modern Zen sensibility—designed to thrive in the arid, sun-drenched climate of San Bernardino County. Through thoughtful site analysis, including sun mapping, soil assessment, and strategic plant research, the design process became a collaborative dialogue rooted in intention and clarity.

Minimalist lines softened by contrasting curves introduced a quiet sophistication, while the planting palette—composed of slow-growing, drought-tolerant species—offers both resilience and visual restraint. What was once an elevated planter bed is now a fully accessible, bespoke fruit orchard—made reachable by custom steps seamlessly integrated into the landscape giving access to citrus, stone fruit, and apples that will bring palatable joy for seasons to come. To top it all off, a minimalist water feature added a tranquil focal point—bringing together sound, movement, and stillness in one cohesive, elegant space.

Newport Beach Modern Backyard Transformation

Clean Lines & Cozy Nights

Once overgrown, claustrophobic, and difficult to maintain, this backyard was completely reimagined into an inviting, modern space built for connection and calm. Oversized 30–40' trees along the back wall, which once dominated the space and caused constant mess for both the clients and their pool-owning neighbors, were removed to open up the yard. In their place, an individually tightly pruned privacy hedge provided a sense of enclosure without sacrificing light or openness, while still allowing privacy through growth.

A weathered, stained concrete patio was upgraded with sleek, slip-rated R11 outdoor tile that instantly brightened the area and created a cleaner, more refined foundation. The natural grass—problematic during heavy rain—was replaced with high-quality turf, forming crisp lines between hardscape and softscape. A narrow band of river rock framed the turf before giving way to vibrant planting beds layered with red, purple, pink, and white blooms, all anchored in rich brown mulch.

Two elegant pot-turned-bubbler fountains offered illuminated movement and subtle sound, draining into hidden basins beneath gravel and fully automated to refill based on water level. Landscape lighting thoughtfully highlighted the textures, colors, and clients’ favorite elements—including a fire pit lounge area framed by a built-in bench seat that doubled as a retaining wall for the slightly inclined planter bed behind. The result was a fresh, open, and low-maintenance space ready for quiet mornings, lively gatherings, and cozy nights under the lights.
